About Movement Rooms Inc.
Movement Rooms Inc. designs and builds movement-based environments for children, families, and active adults across Canada and the United States. Our work includes custom residential playrooms, sensory spaces, home gyms, therapy clinics, schools, and commercial environments, all grounded in the belief that thoughtful design can support movement, regulation, connection, and overall wellbeing.
Founded by designer and builder Emily Dragoman, Movement Rooms was created at the intersection of design, fine carpentry, and human health. With a background in woodworking, formal study in health and nutrition, and years working in medical publishing, Emily brings a unique lens to movement-based environments, balancing beauty, function, and safety.
The company began after designing and building a custom active play space at home, an experience that revealed how powerfully the right environment can shape daily life. Today, Movement Rooms works exclusively on specialized movement spaces, approaching each project with intention, technical expertise, and care.
Our Philosophy
Families are the foundation of strong communities. When children are supported in their ability to move, regulate, and connect, they thrive. When families are given spaces that invite connection and play, daily life changes in meaningful ways.
Movement Rooms Inc. exists to reimagine how homes and institutions support childhood, not through trends or shortcuts, but through thoughtful design, deep expertise, and uncompromising standards.
Why Choose Movement Rooms
When it comes to building spaces for active use, choosing the right team matters. Children’s playrooms, sensory rooms, gross-motor spaces, and gym environments are not just renovations. They are specialized spaces that must balance safety, function, durability, and beauty. This is where Movement Rooms Inc. stands apart.
Specialists in movement spaces
Movement Rooms is not a general contracting company that occasionally builds playrooms or gyms. We specialize in the design and construction of movement-based environments, with a primary focus on children’s spaces, including therapy clinics, sensory rooms, schools, and residential playrooms. Our work also includes thoughtfully designed gym and training spaces that support adult health and family use.
We understand how bodies move, load, climb, and train at different stages of life. We collaborate with a trusted network of consultants, including structural engineers, architects, environmental health consultants, and occupational therapists.
Experience that prevents costly mistakes
After years of working in both residential and commercial environments, we are able to anticipate challenges such as structural constraints, ceiling conditions, load requirements, anchoring, and code considerations. This experience allows us to identify issues early and avoid safety concerns, delays, and costly corrections later.
Details, safety, and the importance of working with a specialist
Movement spaces depend on precise technical decisions. In children’s environments, this includes spacing, fall zones, grip materials, anchoring, and entrapment rules. In gym spaces, it includes equipment clearances, load ratings, anchoring methods, and material performance.
DIY or non-specialist builds often miss these hidden requirements. When it comes to active use, there is no room for shortcuts.
Craftsmanship and proper insurance
Our team is rooted in fine carpentry and millwork, resulting in furniture-grade structures designed for daily use. These are spaces people move through, climb on, and train in, so quality and precision matter.
Movement Rooms Inc. and its subcontractors carry appropriate insurance for designing and building environments intended for children’s and gym use.
